1 Starting

Download the packages (Server, Text and/or Widgets Client, and eventually DevLib and voiXtreme) from the website.

Launch the executable file directly by clicking on OPEN or save the package in your hard drive for further use.

If you choose SAVE option, select the folder where you want to save the package. 

The WireLess Studio installation wizard will help you to install all the necessary components.


 

2 Components

 

 

2.1 The components of WireLess Studio are:

The server accepts connections from clients, launches and runs the PC's applications.
This server (WSServer) needs a user logged in the PC and may be started/stopped from the desktop.
This component is not installed by default. 
It doesn't exist in version 4.
The server accepts the connections from clients, launches and runs PC applications.
This server (WSServerSvc) is a NT Service. It doesn't need a user logged onto the PC and it may be started automatically and managed from the "Services" control panel.
The Administrator (WSAdm) allows to manage profiles and applications, view current connections and shutdown sessions or the server itself.
It also allows to input the license code.
The Windows Client (WSWClient) is a Windows program that emulates a hand-held terminal and allows to run WireLess Studio DOS applications from a PC.
This component is no longer supported on V4 version.
  • The Development Libraries
The development libraries conform a package that contains the Ole interface, some samples and documentation to write Windows programs to run on terminal clients.
The DOS Client, WinCE (CE / WM, text or widgets) or Win32 are the programs that run on the mobile station. Several installation files for the terminal station are included.
The DOS Client is no more supported on V4 version.
  • The voiXtreme Library
    Win Mobile/WinCE
VoiXtreme is a library that allows using speech commands -ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) and TTS (Text to Speech)- on WireLess Studio.

There is a special WireLess Studio package for each OS and/or terminal type.

 

 

2.2 Packages

- WinCE Full PDA

This package contains the WSt Clients for PDA under WinCE.
You can download a single Full release which contains all the packages (Symbol, Intermec, Datalogic, etc.) or a specific package for your group of platforms:

  • Intermec (CK30, I700, CK31, CN2B, CN3, CK3)
  • Datalogic (Rhino)
  • Symbol PDT (PDT8100, PPT8800, VRC7900)
  • Symbol MC (MC3000, MC9000, MC50)
  • LXE
  • Mobile Compia
  • Psion Teklogix
  • Janam
  • Unitech
  • Generics (iPAQ, AXIM).

IniEditor and iPDA will be installed or updated if the required version is not installed on your system.

- DOS Symbol (Legacy) This package contains the WSt Clients for DOS terminals.
Symbol DOS terminals series 1000, 3100, 6100, 6800, 6940.
The DOS Client doesn't exist in version 4.
- DOS Intermec Trakker (Legacy) This package contains the WSt Clients for DOS terminals.
Intermec, DOS terminals from the Trakker series.
The DOS Client doesn't exist in version 4.
- Win32 PC Windows WXP/W2000/W2003 This package contains the WSt Clients for Windows.
- DevLib Win32 PC Windows WXP/W2000/W2003 Development libraries: needed for developing applications for WSt (OLE/COM) WSOLE & WSOLEWidgets.
 -Server Win32 PC Windows WXP/W2000/W2003 WSt Server and Administrator for PC.
-The voiXtreme Library Win Mobile/WinCE This package contains the voice library. Select the product installation language: English, French or Spanish.

 

3 Server Installation

Server Win32 PC Windows XP / 2000

The usual options are selected by default.

The desktop server is not installed by default. It doesn't exist in version 4.

 

 

4 DevLib Installation

DevLib Win32 PC Windows WXP/W2000/W2003

 
 

 

5 Client Installation

 
 

5.1 PDA Clients

 
If IniEditor or iPDA are not installed on your system, you will be prompted to do so. 

If the latest IniEditor version or iPDA version is already installed, the installation program will continue on the next step

The program will install or update IniEditor and/or iPDA.

PDA Full (Symbol, Intermec, Datalogic)

The most usual terminals will be selected by default. Terminals with a red cross are unselected.

To select all the terminals at once, click on the option as on the screenshot:

6 VoiXtreme Installation

VoiXtreme Library Win Mobile / WinCE

Download the package according to the Operating System of your PDA and the language the language you prefer for TTS and ASR (available in English, French and Spanish).

The Wizard will guide you through the installation process.

 


 

7 Shortcuts

The installation assistant will place these shortcuts on the desktop:
  • The Windows Client (version 3) 

  • The Win32 Client (version 3)

  • The Win32 Client (version 4)
  • The development Library (version 3 and 4)

  • The NVM Loader for Symbol DOS clients (version 3)
